I was in second year of medical school of Saigon, in 1968. The New Year of 1968 was a disaster year for us. I did learn to do some minor surgeries during that time by following my senior fellows. Dr. Willard experiences about life, and the war are very valuable. As a Vietnamese, I am greatly appreciating his help during the war. What he advised for some young doctors is very practical. I do find out that being in medical field, you will be a student forever.

Given the fullness of medical training I agree creative pursuits have value in multiple domains, but these pursuits are not limited to the arts. I might be expressing myself on the basketball court or when kicking another person in the face at a taewondo class. My point is: a block of time in medical training is precious and limited. If arts/humanities were added it should likely be optional- your art flow state which aides your growth, combats burnout, etc. May be that "one more thing" that adds to my own burnout.

Jillian, your comment about cynicism in physicians is astute. I truly felt I had no voice with the government of Ontario in 2020. As a fee for service subspeciality physician in solo practice I was devastated by the MoH's decision not to pay fee for service physicians for several months in 2020. I reached out to my local MPP (on 7 separate occasions and received not a single reply). I reached out to Premier Ford and Health Minister Christine Elliott and received the standard email reply from both. When I wrote back to both of them again expressing my concerns, the Premier's office wrote back and indicated "you are not authroized to write to this email address". Minister Elliott did not respond to me. Official opposition leader Andrea Horvath did not respond to my emails either. I felt abandoned by my government. I also got no sense of support from the OMA despite multiple conversations with representatives. I had no voice to influence change. As a result of this treatment by the Ontario government, I made the difficult decision to retire from practice. This decision has been a definite and ongoing struggle. No replacement subspecialist has been found so many of my patients must now travel a significant distance to receive health care. I truly miss my patients and being able to aid them in their health care journeys.

April 2022 Governor of Arizona signed in legislation that " Acupuncture is a form of medicine.) . As revealed by Dr. Thomas Szasz back in the 1960s, the medicalization of human nature is the latest exploitation of people. Medicine is now an institution of social control, void of altruistic motives. The guild of psychiatry is the worst offender in its promotion of invented illnesses and the exploitation of fragile souls (including young children). Based on expansive study and most importantly lived experience, I can confidently affirm Dr. Szasz's conclusion that "mental illness is a myth." Human suffering is real, but a psychosis is only natural response to an extreme traumatic experience. Neurology can explain mental breakdowns, but they can not cure the soul. I dedicated 3 years to publish my research on RUclips: ruclips.net/channel/UCb26QwveKffmm4vTz9WdaWQ

The diagnosis of so called "mental illness" is subjective arbitrary unscientific degrading and stigmatizing. It takes 1 person to have a real disease it takes 2 people to have a mental illness. It's a diagnosis based on power. Psychiatrists and people who work in mental health should be ashamed of themselves.

Hi. I have been feeling symptoms for a couple of years Brain feel like it foggy all the time. I've been to many doctors and 3 ER visits as of late. No one can find anything wrong with me, but they all say anxiety which i think it's more than that. I get twitching right eyes and shortness of breath. I have passed out twice which prompted 3 visit. I have heart palpations. Now all of this happens for about 2 months but then it and is still ongoing Now im worried again cause last night as i was trying to go asleep it felt like my brain shut off, kinda like i wasn't there for a second. For like 3 days now i have been feeling like a pass out feeling but havent passed out and now last night that wierd brain thing happened. I have got these feelings of passing out during the years ive been feeling symptoms and they last for about a week then i will bounce back but never had what happened last night. What could this be?? I have had my blood taken also ct scans of my brain, chest and heart scan and everything they say is normal. I dont feel normal at all now for 2 years. Ive taken so many test and seen like 4 different regular doctors but never they refered me to a neuro or psy. Now i have no insurance to go to doc and check cause the price went up. Any thought on what could be wrong with me would be doing help. I just want my young life back as im only 38 years old and was very athletic before all of this.

It could also be something serious so don't just overlook it. Second of all, from what I understood the symptoms you are experiencing are more physical than mental, you would probably need to see a neurologist instead of a psychiatrist. I know you might not be in the perfect place to fight for your health, maybe you don't have the money etc.. but please don't quit. We all deserve a peaceful life without any pain.
